"Modern education is premised strongly on materialistic values. It is vital that when educating our children’s brains that we do not neglect to educate their hearts, a key element of which has to be the nurturing of our compassionate nature." - Dalai Lama

  1. An ethics based liberal arts education is a school that not only broadens your education beyond your major, but gives you opportunites to make good decisions and still have fun on campus. For example, Columbia College offers so many things to do like dodgeball, Hey Day, and even events held by the SSS or the Ambassadors. There are so many things to besides just studying your major. But that is important too.

  4. Ethic based liberal arts education not only lets us study the components of our major but lets us study more than that, to help us later in life. Ethics is our morals and of what is right or wrong. Liberal arts could be defined as not just teaching us the normal subjects of school, but also teaches us, humanities, social & natural sciences ect. and education is the knowledge we take in to help us improve our future.

  6. An ethics-based liberal arts education is the structure that helps hold together whatever your major field of study may be. Consider it this way- to build a house you must lay a foundation first. If there was no foundation, there would be nothing to support the house. The moral behind the story, liberal arts help you incorporate your general education courses (Math, English, etc.), and use that knowledge to help aid you in whatever profession you choose to pursue.

Ethics-based liberal arts education can be broken down into three elements: Ethics, Liberal arts, and education. Ethics are the morals the individual holds for themselves. Liberal Arts are subjects that are distinct from professional subjects. Education is the process of teaching and learning.

  8. The term liberal, implies reform and favor of progress. However, this all depends on what the community in which the artist is living/from considers to be "ethical". But, if we can use the term ethical in the terms of art then I would say that the meaning of the aforementioned phrase would mean to allow students to participate in the progress and movement of modern art, without stealing ideas and plagiarizing. This way, the artist's skills can grow with their own unique abilities; rather than copying someone else's

  9. An ethics-based liberal arts education is basically the type of education I'm receiving right now at this college. I'm taking a math, science, and music class. I would define ethics as a personal moral code of conduct. Liberal arts are general knowledge-type classes: math, science, etc. I feel education isn't just learning new things and memorizing them in order to pass a class. It's about furthering oneself intellectually, and remaining open-minded to new ideas or thoughts.

  11. Ethics based liberal arts education is an education and then some. Its a lot more than just join got school and getting your degree and that's it. It's the little extra but that the school provides to really succeed in life. A degree will take you far but with the extra things this type of education provides could make you a much better person in life.
You can go further a break each part of this down. Ethics is simply someones morals and how they would make different decisions on different situations. Liberal arts can be defined as the different courses provided such as english, math and science. Also, education is simply getting taught stuff and acquiring information.
